Our History
Daughters of Zion Ministries prayer group began in the fall of 1992, floating from one house to the next on Saturday evenings at 6:30 PM from a vision given to Prophetess Lois Tyler from the Lord. He impressed upon her heart that His people didn’t pray for the government as 1 Timothy 2:1-4 instructs us to do. The vision included the writing and praying of petitions for the global and local governments, school systems, churches, families and special needs of others. The four original members are Prophetess Lois Tyler, DeAndrea Tolbert, Pat Jennings and Gwendolyn Denise Spindle, three of which, at that time, were under the spiritual guidance of their pastor, Rev. Lucell Trammer. These daughters stayed the course until God sent other sisters to complete the vision.
1 Timothy 2:1-4 was the initial call and an instrument in the formation of the prayer group. 2 Chronicles 7:12-16 gave the charge to fulfill the vision. When Prophetess Lois read the scripture it became perfectly clear that her house would be known as a house of prayer. Eventually, to guarantee consistency with our meeting place, Prophetess Lois’ home became the meeting place for intercessors at 8:00 AM; guests arrived at 9:00 AM for prayer. The only Saturdays prayer did not go forth from the Tyler’s home was when the Lord directed the ministry to travel to different venues for His glorification and our edification. In the spring of 2013, God blessed us with a home of our own in Southfield, Michigan.
Up until March 1, 1998 we were identified as a prayer group, but a prophetic word was spoken over the group by Prophet Johnson at Life Line Church in Detroit, Michigan, stating our charge and destiny, declaring it through the name “Daughters of Zion” which we have proudly worn since that day. The pastor of Life Line Church, Bishop Anthony Claxton, replaced our spiritual advisor when three of the original members left Pastor Trammer’s church. Upon Prophetess Tyler’s membership from 1997-2012, we were under the covering of Dr. Carlyle Fielding Stewart, III of Hope United Methodist Church in Southfield, Michigan. We are currently under the covering of Apostle Ronald C. Hill of Love and Unity Christian Fellowship in Compton, California. Daughters of Zion Ministries is a prayer and deliverance ministry of which many miracles, healings and deliverance has occurred throughout the many years of service.
Our Mission & Vision
Just as 1 Timothy 2:1-2 rings out loud and clear commanding us; we the daughters are constrained to pray for all men especially those who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable lifestyle in all godliness and honesty. We have laid down our lives for others and taken up our cross of ministry to bring glory to God by going to teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Our focus is on evangelism, discipleship and care for the needy. We feed the hungry both natural and spiritual food; give drink to the thirsty, water from the living well; take in the stranger and clothe him with the wrap of Jesus’ arms; visit the sick and imprisoned with healing and deliverance; so we may then one day hear the words of our Master, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Daughters of Zion Ministries provides a safe place for God’s people to heal. Each Saturday morning at 7:30 AM, the members of the ministry meet to intercede for individuals, families, churches, cities, nations in addition to concerns placed on our hearts by God. Individuals not in the ministry may join us for prayer and study at 9:00 A.M. Love offerings are received and seeds are planted in worthy causes such as people in need or ministries that help others, as the Spirit leads. There is a ministry prayer line; therefore help for God’s people is only a phone call away. Morning Glory Prayer is held at the ministry every Friday from 5:00-7:00 AM.
The activities of the group include praying at hospitals, homes, businesses, and courthouses in the Metropolitan Detroit Area and other locations. Additional outreach activities include publishing a newsletter, conducting seminars, providing intercessory prayer training, individual and family counseling, computer training, reading and writing tutoring, food pantry, and outreach to persons who are homeless, providing food and clothing. The ministry supports individuals and organizations both financially and with prayer as directed by the Holy Spirit.
Annual highlighted activities of the ministry are Ultimate Expression of Love which is a celebration and family workshop in the month of February. The ministry observes the National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday of May to intercede for global, national and local affairs. On the first weekend of August, the ministry sponsors “I Give Myself Away” retreat in Midland, Michigan. The goal of the retreat is to provide participants with a life-changing encounter with God. The weekend includes worship services, intercessory prayer, health and healing seminars, personal time in the presence of the Lord, and much more.
